About this event
The UL Lafayette Piano Institute (ULPI) provides opportunities for pedagogy students to share their passion for teaching, apply best practices, and prepare for their future careers. The Institute also offers a meaningful way for the University to connect with the community by offering quality lessons accessible to all members of our community. ULPI is under the direction of Dr. Chee Hyeon Choi, Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy. Lessons are inclusive of K-12 and adult students who are interested in learning piano recreationally and gaining comprehensive musicianship skills. INSTRUCTORS: Haley Baronne is completing her BA in Piano Pedagogy at UL. She has performed in masterclasses with renowned pianists Sean Chen and Angela Cheng and has served as an instructor for the UL Summer Piano Camp and ULPI program. She extended her piano studies at the music festival, “Sonatina” in Vermont in 2024. Haley also holds degrees in Psychology and Nursing, worked as an RN for 12 years, and is a devoted mother of three daughters. Everett Broussard holds a piano performance degree from UL and has taught in various Louisiana cities for several years. He designs personalized curricula that balance rigorous training with engaging activities, encouraging students to reach their full potential while keeping lessons enjoyable. A dedicated educator, Everett values commitment and hard work from his students in return. UL FACULTY Korean American pianist, Dr. Chee Hyeon Choi is Assistant Professor of Piano Pedagogy at UL. She has presented at national and international conferences and performed at prestigious venues, including Carnegie Weil Hall in New York. She directs the UL Piano Institute Program and the UL Summer Piano Camp. She serves as chair of the college HOW DO THE LESSONS WORK?
