About this event
Earn a 3-year certification in mental health first aid through evidence-based, nonclinical mental health awareness and crisis intervention training developed by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. This one-day training, which counts as 7.5 PD credits, is free for all who are 18+ and live or work in Maine. Learn how to: Recognize signs and symptoms of mental health/substance use challenges in adolescents. Respond and support youth and teens facing mental health and substance use challenges. Intervene and deescalate mental health crisis situations, including suicide prevention/intervention, psychosis intervention, and overdose response. Connect youth and teens in need to appropriate health supports, including resources for Maine and US National mental healthcare options and services. Develop and practice self-care habits.
