Join Ted Olsson, Secretary of the Friends of Plum Island Lighthouse, to hear stories of the brave surfmen who risked their lives as America’s first maritime responders. Ted will explore dramatic shipwrecks off Plum Island, Salisbury Beach, and Kittery Point’s Wood Island Station. Learn about the U.S. Life-Saving Service, which employed 2,200 heroes across 270 stations before merging to form the U.S. Coast Guard in 1915.
