About this event
In this exciting, project-based afterschool program, students will begin the school year by designing and building an original app for submission to the Congressional App Challenge. Through the app-development process, students will identify a problem or topic that matters to them, plan their solution, develop and test their app, and prepare a presentation explaining their work. Along the way, they will strengthen their coding, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills. After completing their Congressional App Challenge projects, students will transition into additional technology-focused curriculum based on their progress and interests. They may explore AI storytelling, Minecraft coding, technology-focused entrepreneurship, and other engaging coding and design projects. Students will gain experience taking an idea from concept to completion while building confidence, independence, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving skills. Regular updates will be shared with families through ClassDojo so parents can follow their child’s learning and accomplishments throughout the program.
