In this exciting, project-based afterschool program, students in grades 5th–8th will explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) through advanced, hands-on robotics and engineering challenges. Using LEGO Education robotics kits, students will design, build, and program increasingly complex robots, machines, and automated systems. Along the way, they will develop skills in mechanical design, structural engineering, motors, sensors, data collection, sequencing, loops, variables, and conditional logic. Students will apply the engineering design process as they plan, prototype, test, troubleshoot, and refine their creations. Depending on student progress and interest, learners may also work with additional engineering and technology tools, including micro:bit, Hummingbird Robotics, 3D pens, and other age-appropriate platforms. Through collaborative projects, open-ended design challenges, and friendly competitions, students will strengthen their creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills while building confidence with robotics, engineering, and coding. Returning students will enjoy new and increasingly advanced projects, while first-time participants will receive the guidance and support needed to learn and succeed. Regular updates will be shared with families through ClassDojo so parents can follow their child’s learning and accomplishments throughout the program.
