In this exciting, project-based afterschool program, students will explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) concepts through creative, hands-on learning. Using MIT Scratch, students will design interactive games, stories, and animations while developing coding skills in areas such as sequencing, events, loops, variables, conditional logic, and problem-solving. Students will be grouped by age, experience, and ability whenever possible, creating a more effective learning environment with appropriately paced instruction, support, and project challenges. Depending on student progress and interest, learners may also explore additional coding and technology platforms, including LEGO Robotics, Minecraft Education, and other age-appropriate programs. Through engaging challenges, students will strengthen their coding confidence, creativity, critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and independent problem-solving skills. Returning students will enjoy new and different projects, while first-time participants will receive the guidance needed to learn and succeed. Regular updates will be shared with families through ClassDojo so parents can follow their child’s learning and accomplishments throughout the program.
