About this event
In this exciting, project-based afterschool program, students in grades 6th–8th will explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) concepts through engaging, hands-on projects. During the first quarter, students will work toward developing an original app for the Congressional App Challenge. Along the way, they will strengthen their skills in coding, app design, creative problem-solving, project planning, collaboration, and presentation. After completing their Congressional App Challenge projects, students will progress to other coding, technology, and design curricula throughout the remainder of the school year. Based on student progress and interest, projects may include MIT Scratch, AI storytelling, Minecraft coding, entrepreneurship, and other age-appropriate technology platforms. Returning students will enjoy new and different projects from last year, while first-time participants will receive the guidance needed to learn and succeed. Regular updates will be shared with families through ClassDojo so parents can follow their child’s learning and accomplishments throughout the program.
