About this event
Wood is a remarkable material with a variety of interesting properties, critical to understand if you want to dive into woodworking or carpentry. You probably know that wood moves (sticky drawers, anyone?) but did you know it moves differently across different orientations of the board? Likewise, wood's strength is also anisotropic. In this class we dive into these topics and more, while learning to recognize several domestic species commonly encountered. Students will gain a deeper understanding of wood and its properties, as well as the ability to recognize several domestic species of wood. This tutorial has no physical take home project. Students under 18 may attend with parental permission.
