Students will gain hands-on experience installing and finishing drywall. Instruction covers proper screw-driving techniques, including the use of a standard impact driver with a dimple bit and a drywall screw gun. Students will practice taping and mudding butt joints and flat joints, as well as patching holes using a variety of methods. The class also includes a discussion of different types of joint compound, including dry and pre-mixed options, helping students understand which materials work best for each job. Students will practice installing drywall, taping and mudding joints, and patching small holes. Instruction emphasizes proper techniques, tool use, and an understanding of materials to practice achieving clean, professional-looking results. There is no take-home project for this class. Students will leave with practical drywall skills they can apply to their own home projects, including basic installation, joint finishing, and patching techniques. Students under 18 may attend with parental permission.
