What would your dream home look like? In this project-based class, students will step into the roles of architects and interior designers as they imagine, plan, and design a dream home from the inside out. Students will explore various interior design styles (such as modern, rustic, and traditional) then create mood boards to capture colors, textures, and features that reflect their chosen style. They will learn to read and design floor plans, use architectural symbols, and think from a top-down perspective like professionals, all while applying math skills through scale, measurement, and proportion. The experience culminates in a detailed, to-scale interior floor plan complete with rooms, furniture, and design details. Students will leave this class seeing the world through a designer’s lens and imagining every space they enter as a new opportunity to create, improve, and dream.
