You’re looking for something different to do this Valentine’s Day? Oak-ay, we get it. Do you like long walks in the woods and chuckling at a good pun (and maybe groaning at a few not so great ones)? Then you otter grab someone special and bring them to Eagle Creek Park for the My Punny Valentine Trail. We’ve lined the Pun Oak, we mean Pin Oak, Trail with over 30 nature valentine puns, quips, and play on words to help you celebrate!
The trail will be set up from Saturday, January 31-Sunday, February 15 so there’s plenty of time to enjoy the trail even if you already have Valentine’s Day plans. Grab your sweetie, your besties, your four-legged leashed friends, your galentines, your family, your spouse, your child, your siblings, your palentines, your cheesiest friends, or anyone special in your life. We hope the hike makes you smile and you enjoy your time in nature with someone special - even if you hike it solo. You’re special too!
At the end of the trail, please scan the attendance tracker QR code to let us know how many people used the trail. The trail is a paved accessible loop, about ½ mile in length and starts right outside the doors of the Earth Discovery Center. Trail may be icy or snowy depending on weather conditions - please call the Earth Discovery Center at 317-327-7148 or email dawn.vandeman@indy.gov for trail condition updates.
This event is free with park admission and available while the park grounds are open, 7am-6:30pm in February. The Earth Discovery Center is open 10am-5pm Tuesday-Saturday and 1pm-5pm on Sunday, closed Mondays. Restrooms are available inside the building.
There is a binder available inside the Earth Discovery Center with all the puns for anyone who has mobility issues, if the temps are too cold to enjoy the trail, or if snow or ice makes the trail too treacherous.
