Get ready to play with fire, fermentation, and a little bit of magic! In this hands-on class, you’ll explore Obvara Raku, a centuries-old Eastern European pottery technique that creates beautifully unexpected, organic surfaces. Hot bisque-fired pots are dipped into a bubbly flour-and-yeast mixture before being quenched in water, revealing dramatic, tree-like patterns and speckles. Come embrace the surprises of the process and create your own one-of-a-kind ceramic treasures!

NOTE: This MITI will require participants to work close to fire and hot wares. Please wear closed-toe shoes, long sleeves, and have hair pulled back out of the face. Synthetic or loose clothing is not recommended due to the proximity to flames.
Pottery will be provided.
