Program Overview
The Indy Art Center Teacher Institute is an immersive, studio-based professional development experience for K–12 art educators. Over five days, teachers engage in hands-on art making across multiple professional studios while also exploring curriculum design, assessment, classroom management strategies, and creative renewal.
This institute is designed to refuel teachers as artists, expand their technical skillsets, and provide immediately transferable ideas for the classroom.

Participants will:

• Reconnect with their identity as artists
• Learn new media techniques aligned to school-appropriate adaptations
• Develop standards-aligned lesson plans and assessments
• Explore inclusive and choice-based teaching strategies
• Build a professional network of fellow art educators
• Leave with finished artwork, lesson plans, and renewed inspiration

Day 2 Attendees will take part in one of the following workshops:
Drawing & mixed-media explorationLow-pressure, process-driven approachesSketchbook strategies for the classroom
Handbuilding & surface design in clay
Coil, slab, texture, and low-fire adaptations
Relief printmaking or Gelly PrintingPaper, fabric, and found-material printing
Digital Design Using ProcreateDigital drawing and painting using ProcreateLayering, brushes, color, and texture exploration
PD Session for Tuesday:
Teaching 3D in Limited Spaces Focus: Clay & Sculptural Thinking Kiln access alternatives Air-dry and low-budget options
