"In this hands-on program, students dive into the world of woodworking while building confidence, creativity, and real-life skills along the way.Campers begin by learning the basics. Safe tool use, classic building techniques, and practical math skills, are all taught through doing, not lecturing. Every beginner starts with a favorite first project: a spin top. It’s a fun, low-pressure way to get comfortable with each of our tools and experience the joy of making something from start to finish.
From there, the possibilities are endless. Students can choose from a variety of signature project options or dream up designs of their own. Projects include birdhouses, toys, treasure chests, bookshelves, and plenty of imaginative builds we never saw coming. Around here, using your imagination is half the fun.
Campers work with real, kid-friendly hand tools like brace drills, eggbeater drills, try squares, coping saws, hand saws, C-clamps, and more, always with close supervision and age-appropriate instruction. Along the way, they learn patience, problem-solving, carpentry-related math skills, independence, and pride in their work.
Woodworkers Academy offers kids a creative outlet, a break from screens, and skills they’ll carry with them long after our session."
