About this event
Instructor: Megan Gill Shine a light on your watercolor skills by learning how to paint reflective metal surfaces. This session emphasizes value, contrast, and precision — perfect for artists ready to refine their technique. You’ll study how color bends and changes across metal, creating depth and realism through deliberate brushwork and color mixing. Classes are structured yet relaxed, guiding you through each stage with confidence. Students may join any session individually or take the full series for a progressive learning experience. Topics Include: • Mixing neutral tones for metallic effects • Distorted reflections on curved surfaces • Warm vs. cool metals — gold, silver, and chrome • Creating a reflective still life composition Supplies: Students may bring their own materials or purchase a pre-made kit on the first day of class for $40. 140 lb Cold Press Watercolor Paper (Strathmore 300, Canson XL, or Arches recommended) Winsor & Newton Cotman 10 Set Round Brushes (#2, #6) Palette (white ceramic plate or plastic) Water jars, paper towels, pencil, kneaded eraser Optional: waterproof pen (Uni-Ball Signo 207 BOLD) Can’t take the whole series?
