Supply Fee: $20 to the Instructor Join us at Monthaven to explore Pique Assiette, a charming French folk mosaic technique that transforms broken glass, ceramics, plates, cups, and pottery into works of art. You'll have plenty of tesserae — those beautifully imperfect broken pieces — to choose from as you design and assemble your own one-of-a-kind mosaics. This two-part workshop takes you through the mosaic-making process, and you'll leave with two finished pieces. In the first session, you'll create a ceramic tile mosaic artwork, as well as a mosaic picture frame. You’ll learn how to thoughtfully select, space and connect your tesserae using mastic (glue) to build your design. In the second session after your work is cured, you'll finish both pieces by grouting and polishing— bringing all the pieces together into a cohesive, work of art — and take them home to display! No experience necessary — just bring your creativity and enjoy the process of turning broken pieces into something beautiful. All materials provided, but feel free to bring your own pieces.
