About this event
This intensive 9-week program is designed for the landscape industry’s slower winter season, giving participants an opportunity to strengthen their skills, earn industry credentials, and prepare for greater responsibility in the field. A core part of the program is the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) Certificate for Landscape Management in Fundamentals and Maintenance. Students who successfully complete the NALP requirements earn this industry-recognized certificate. The curriculum covers first aid and safety, landscape plan reading and calculations, irrigation system components and maintenance, landscape and turf equipment safety and maintenance, planting and turf installation, pest management, and tree and shrub care. Students also complete Greenius online safety and equipment training and earn applicable Greenius training certificates. In addition to these credentials, the program includes locally focused training in Cape Cod plant identification and care, garden history, garden design, landscape construction, pruning, soils, and Cape Cod ecosystems. Guest speakers bring additional industry expertise into the classroom. Students participate in hands-on equipment demonstrations and training in the Cape Cod Tech Horticulture shop, using tools, small engines, and landscape equipment, and complete a comprehensive garden design project. Students also develop a personal database of Cape Cod plants.
