Spice up your night with a taste of Senegal! Join Chef Tisha for a lively, hands-on cooking adventure where you’ll learn to make crispy Saccara (black eyed pea fritters with a honey, garlic, tamarind sauce), Thiebou Yapp, the national beef and rice dish of Senegal and for dessert, Thiakry, a popular sweet dish made with yogurt and/or condensed milk with nutmeg and cinnamon.
Students will work together in our professional kitchen to make these vibrant West African recipes and then will sit down at a communal table and enjoy these dishes.
Originally from Togo, Tisha is the owner of Versatile Catering, a woman and minority company in Gaithersburg. She blends African, Caribbean and global flavors to make bold, made from scratch dishes that honor tradition but with a modern twist.
For your safety, we ask all students wear close toed, no slip shoes to this class.
No refunds will be granted for Let’s Cook@Casey programs. A one-time registration transfer is available to a Let’s Cook@Casey class of equal value if the exchange request is submitted in writing to LetsCook@gaithersburgmd.gov no less than 72 hours before the scheduled program time.
