Three IN-PERSON Sessions October 5, 12, 19 This course will feature lectures on three unrelated topics: Pet Cloning, Science as a Way of Knowing, and Physician-Assisted Suicide. The pet cloning session will discuss the technique of somatic cell nuclear transfer to create genetic copies of a pet dog or cat. The science as a way of knowing session will discuss the difference between science and religion and the use of the scientific method to investigate the natural world. The physician-assisted suicide session will explore issues surrounding the concept of "death with dignity," where a physician prescribes a lethal drug dose to end a person's life who no longer wants to live. Dr. John Hamilton is a retired biologist from the University of North Georgia.
