Six IN-PERSON sessions September 16, 23, 30, October 7, 14, 21 Music is an important part of our lives - and not just for entertainment. Music can relax us or energize us. Music helps us to perceive and develop an understanding of the world around us. Music reflects our culture, reflects our values, and music changes our society and our lives. This course will encourage the class to examine and discuss changes in the music we listened to from 1950 until 1970, and how that music has changed American culture, and the lives of everyone since. The Rev. Dr. Robert Powers has been teaching BULLI courses since the 1990s. Presently, he serves as Rector of St Francis of Assisi Anglican Catholic Church in Gainesville, is a chaplain in the Civil Air Patrol (United States Air Force Auxiliary), and plays bass in a jazz band. His teaching style is class discussion and the sharing of opinions.
