About this event
Three IN-PERSON sessions March 16, 23, 30 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. We live in a time when we face such pressure to make meaning. With so much uncertainty, anxiety, and fear, our hearts yearn to find grounding and peace, yet we struggle to find spaces that support our spiritual heart. Given the pressures of such a materialistic worldview, a practice of enchantment offers us space to explore and wonder. This class will focus on what it might mean to nurture a ministry of enchantment, as we explore the richness of mythology, symbol, metaphor, poetry, and story. If we were given the opportunity to stretch our spiritual muscles, what might happen? How can we engage the stories of our faith and life in such a way that we breathe more deeply--and find hope? Stuart Higginbotham is the rector of Grace Episcopal Church, and recently served as Assistant Professor in the Practice of Spiritual Formation and Ministry at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He is the author of The Heart of a Calling: The Practice of Christian Mindfulness in Congregational Ministry and Bones of Light: Poems of Spiritual Imagination. His current writing and practice focus on the intersection of spiritual imagination and poetry.
