Hand-build your own clay wind chime and learn some of the science of ceramics. In this hands-on, three-part series held on Saturdays. Participants will explore the four classical elements — Wind, Earth, Fire, and Water — through the art of ceramics. Using slab techniques and cookie cutters, adults will hand-build their own wind chime pieces, then return to glaze and finally assemble their kiln-fired creations. This age group goes deepest into the material science, covering vitrification, firing curves, and glaze chemistry alongside the hands-on making. Participants must attend all three Saturday sessions to complete their piece. About the Collaboration: This workshop is a partnership between MudHut Ceramics Studio, a Fort Bragg ceramics studio founded in 2024, and Flockworks, a nonprofit that has brought free, accessible arts programming to the Mendocino Coast for over fifteen years. MudHut's artists provide clay expertise, kiln access, and hands-on instruction, while Flockworks coordinates scheduling and community outreach.
