Structure of class
Produce functional or sculptural forms using the building technique of slabs. The slab building technique involves rolling out clay to an even thickness, cutting it into shapes, folding/bending/manipulating those shapes and joining them together to form a finished object. You can make functional pieces such as cups and plates, or build more complex forms like platters, boxes, casserole dishes. During your class your instructor might discuss making templates to help create more uniform pieces or using found objects to slump a slab over. Slabs can also be used to make sculptural forms! The possibilities are endless!
