Join us this month as we watch The WayThe Way is a 2010 drama directed, written, and produced by Emilio Estevez, starring his father Martin Sheen. Sheen plays Tom Avery, an American ophthalmologist from California, who is devastated when his estranged son Daniel dies in a storm during the first day of his pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago — the historic route to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Initially traveling to France to retrieve Daniel’s body, Tom is urged by the case’s captain to cremate his son and scatter the ashes, using Daniel’s belongings to honor his journey.Instead of returning home, Tom decides to walk the Camino himself, carrying Daniel’s ashes, as a way to complete his son’s pilgrimage and confront his own life choices.
After the film, stay for an engaging discussion on embracing life's unexpected journey's, the value of friendship, and finding purpose at every stage of life.
Drop-in for the popcorn and relaxed atmosphere. Those interested in taking a deeper dive can stay for an optional post-movie discussion of topics like character, themes, production and media representation.
