Encore Adventures are your opportunity to dabble in a variety of outdoor skills! Try your hand at paddling a kayak, learn the basics of archery, get a grip on our indoor rock climbing wall and much more. Earn a certificate and patch for completing at least five Encore Adventure activities within a two-year period.
Minimal swimming ability required – we do not intentionally capsize the boats but kayaks can and do flip over. Life jackets are provided and required. This trip involves paddling a tidal area near open water with waves and wind but no river features such as rocks or riffles. Actual distance and time on the water depends on conditions and speed of the group, but kayakers should plan for 3-3.5 hrs in the boat.
Detailed info is emailed to the participant about a week prior to the trip. Fee is per person, which includes transportation, leadership and boat; bring a lunch (no nut products) and beverage. All equipment provided for use during the program; paddlers may bring their life jacket pending approval by instructor. You must have completed our Encore Adventures Paddling Basics class or Kayaking Club, Friends & Family Adventure in kayaking or HCRP equivalent prior to this trip. You may register for this paddling trip at the same time you register for a Paddling Basics class, but you must physically complete the Basics class or HCRP equivalent BEFORE the trip.
