The designation of National Historic Landmark is the highest level of historic recognition granted to a site in the United States. These are the rare and remarkable places that embody our nation's heritage. The very first Landmark was designated in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1960, and the first lighthouses were added to the prestigious list four years later, in 1964. Today, a dozen lighthouses share this exceptional honor. Come hear the stories of some of the most iconic and beautiful lighthouses in the United States-and learn why they are so significant to our nation's history. Free.
