Choreography & Performance | Ages 10+
Choreography & Performance is designed to help dancers become more confident, versatile, and adaptable performers. Each class gives dancers the opportunity to learn new combinations in a variety of dance styles while developing the ability to pick up, retain, and perform choreography quickly and confidently.
This is a staff rotation class, giving dancers the opportunity to work with different Catalyst teachers and choreographers throughout the season. Each instructor brings their own movement style, teaching approach, and choreographic voice, challenging dancers to adapt to different styles and ways of learning — an important skill for auditions and professional dance environments.
Rather than working on one routine throughout the season, dancers will regularly learn new choreography with an emphasis on picking up choreography efficiently, attention to detail, musicality, dynamics, stage presence, expression, and individual performance quality.
This class is especially valuable for dancers preparing for dance auditions, theater and musical auditions, dance teams, conventions, intensives, and other opportunities where they will be expected to quickly learn and perform choreography from different choreographers.
This is a training-only class and does not perform a dance in the recital. There is no recital costume or costume fee for this class.
Dress Code: Dancers should wear comfortable dancewear or athletic wear that allows for full movement. Long hair should be secured away from the face. Footwear may vary depending on the style of choreography being taught.
