Students must have completed Algebra II or higher and Biology, ideally with a B or better. Graduation: Fulfills Physical science requirement College Prep: Fulfills CSU/UC lab science “D” requirement with a grade of “C” or better, weighted course (weighted in grade 10 and above on the college prep GPA, weighted in cumulative GPA if taken in grade 9 or summer after grade 9.) Honors Chemistry is a rigorous college prep class intended for students who have demonstrated success in previous STEM courses and plan to pursue higher-level science courses such as AP Chemistry, AP Biology, Honors Anatomy, Honors Physics, AP Physics, or AP Environmental Science. This class requires students to be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working individually and collaboratively on specific assignments. In order to be successful in Honors Chemistry, students must complete non-graded practices and homework routinely and in a timely manner. Detailed formal laboratory notebooks are required (a quad-ruled composition book is ideal) and are graded for both detail and accuracy.
