***This class will be geared towards students who have completed at least Wheel 1 and ideally an additional wheel class such as a second round of Wheel 1 or a session of Wheel 2.*** Dive deeper into the exciting world of soda firing! In this class, we’ll explore how to design forms and surface treatments that make the most of this dynamic firing process. Over six weeks, you’ll create, bisque, and decorate your work in preparation for a final group firing. During our last session, we’ll load the kiln together, and students are invited to observe—and even help with—the firing itself. Come ready to experiment and discover the magic of the soda kiln! Enrollment in this class allows students unlimited access to the open studio for the duration of the class, and provides the students with one bag of clay, and one class per week.
