Bring your imagination to this color workshop. Each basket will be different because participants will plan how they want to use color to create a unique design. The instructor will provide brown reed (smoked reed) in a variety of sizes so participants can be creative. This large tote is perfect for intermediate or advanced participants who want to plan and weave a beautiful large tote. The finished basket measures approximately 17" wide, 11" tall, and 11"deep, with swing handles extended, it is 18" tall. Please, no beginners. This class is appropriate for persons who have woven several baskets and can start and finish baskets independently, or with minimal assistance.We will work through lunch so everyone will leave with a completed basket. Be sure to bring lunch, snacks, and drinks.
Materials to weave the basket will be provided but you must bring some tools with you to class.
SUPPLY LISTPlease note: it is not necessary for participants to purchase a lot of materials before class. Most of these items are found at home.• 2.5 (10 qt.) bucket or 5-gallon bucket• Small spray bottle• 2 old towels, bath size or smaller• Utility scissors or gardening shears• Tape measure/ruler• Pencil• 3-5 bags of dried beans or corn hole bags, small weights or a “spoke weight” • Clothespins• A blunt awl or stubby type (short) flat head screwdriver• 4” zip ties or 10-12 heavy duty clamps • I will have Weave Rite heavy duty awls and clamps available for purchase if participants would like to try them first.
