Description

This program overviews the political and personal animosity between two cousins, Thomas Jefferson and John Marshall), from the 1790s through Jefferson’s presidency, 1800 -1808, when Marshall was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Topics include: (1) their meanings of the American Revolution (2) The XYZ Affair in John Adams presidency (3) How Marshall survived Jefferson’s attempts to reduce the power of the Supreme Court.
