Description
This American Red Cross certification course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. Participants will develop proficiency in water rescue techniques, CPR, AED use, and first aid — and upon completion will also earn First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22) certification, meeting California Code of Regulations requirements for lifeguards, firefighters, peace officers, and other public safety professionals.
Certification is valid for two years. Participants must be at least 15 years old and pass a swimming skills prerequisite prior to the first class session.
Successful completion of this course certifies participants to be eligible to work at shallow and deep water facilities including the 1-Mile Pool and Pleasant Valley Pool.
Sunday-Thursday: PV Pool
Friday & Saturday: Durham Pool
Prerequisites:
15.5 years of ageComplete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest. Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds (Swim and surface dive to retrieve a 10-pound brick from the bottom of the pool, then swim 20 yards with the brick and return to the starting point.)
