Girl Scouts will step into the power of civic engagement as they explore how our government works: from raising their voices through writing letters to elected officials to seeing justice in action. The day will begin at the Chicago Gathering Place, participants will walk as a group to the Dirksen Federal Courthouse for a behind-the-scenes tour to experience how our government operates. Older Girl Scouts (Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors) will take their experience even further by observing a real case, watching firsthand how decisions are made. This experience is a hands-on, inspiring journey that shows every Girl Scout she has the power to make a difference in her community. Each participant will earn the Democracy Badge for their level. Food will be provided: DIY Sub Sandwich Station at the Gathering Place This is NOT a drop off event. This program is designed for families, troops or individuals with an adult chaperone.
