The American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) course is ideal for anyone who must be prepared to respond confidently and effectively in emergency situations such as healthcare professionals and other personnel, teachers, day care workers, and members of the general public. The course reflects the most current AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC), ensuring participants learn the latest science and best practices in resuscitation. The course objectives include high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, the AHA Chain of Survival with emphasis on BLS components, early and effective use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), delivering effective ventilations using a barrier device, working within a team during multi-rescuer resuscitation and performing as an effective team member, and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants. Upon successful completion, participants will be issued an AHA BLS Provider certification, valid for two years.
