Description

Historic Castlewood will be transformed into a Continental training barracks and drill ground. The house and grounds will be used to bring to life the epic moments of the Revolution. Interpretation will start in the left wing of the house and utilize picture boards and other displays. The interpreter will be in the clothing and accoutrements of the 1780-1781 Virginia recruit being trained at Chesterfield barracks. The presentations will offer a background in Chesterfield's role in the Revolutionary War. The demonstration portion of the program will be outside the house revealing the new interpretive signs and ending with a drill and musket firing.
