Have you ever seen a fight on stage or a brawl in a movie? Did you know that there is an art and skill set completely devoted to perfecting these scenes? In this workshop, we will be introducing students to the tricks of the trade when it comes to performing and choreographing Stage Combat. The workshop will cover unarmed and quarterstaff combat. All of our learning will culminate in an epic Hero Fight that will be edited and shared with the families of the students! For ease of access in this workshop, we will be doing most of our work using ratan dowels. Who: Bill Gordon is an Advanced Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors and is pursuing his certified teacher status through the SAFD as well. He has studied stage combat in Moscow, Sydney and all over America. He is an active and recognized professional fight choreographer in Chicago IL, where he is also a represented actor. Through all of these experiences, he has developed a unique perspective in the best ways to share his love of Stage Combat. Students should bring a water bottle and a snack. Please dress in clothing that is easy and comfortable to move in. Pick up will be outside the intermediate school auditorium at 5 pm. If your children will be walking home, please have them let me know when they arrive. PLEASE NOTE: Since there is no class June 19, we will meet Thursday June 18 from 2:30 - 5:00pm
