Prerequisite(s): current MRU student.

Come and transcend recreation with us! This is a program offered in collaboration with the SAMRU Pride Centre focused on providing opportunities for MRU students of any 2SLGBTQ+ identity to connect with one another, access activity, and find joy in recreation. Each session will involve a different activity and will be facilitated by student members of the community.
Outdoor events will be moved indoors in the case of inclement weather. This program’s registration applies to all Get Aqtive events throughout the Fall 2026/Winter 2027 semesters, meaning you only have to register once to be eligible for all activities in this program, and day-of registration for each event can be supported by the program facilitators if spots are available at the start time.
Program LocationVarious, meet in SAMRU Pride Centre Z307 unless otherwise noted.
Program ScheduleFridays, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM.
Outcomes: Upon participating in this program, participants will:

• Have been provided a safe, inclusive space for partaking in recreation activity.
• Have met and engaged with a community of 2SLGBTQ+ students and staff members from CAR and SAMRU’s Pride Centre.
• Have engaged in regularly scheduled and low-commitment physical activity with peers.
• Have been provided with recreational opportunities that may be inaccessible otherwise.

To ensure your best experience we recommend you attend this program with:

• Active clothing and footwear (activity-specific clothing recommendations will be provided where appropriate).
• Any individual equipment required for each activity; group equipment and individual rental equipment will be provided as needed.
• Single-user gender neutral changerooms with showers are available in the Recreation Centre in addition to the group gendered changerooms.
