About this event
Are you interested in the medical field, but don't know where to start? Ever wonder what the tubes the phlebotomist uses are for, and how many to draw? Why are there so many different colors of tubes and needles? How do they know if it's a vein. This course will answer your questions. This Phlebotomy course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely and efficiently perform blood collection (venipuncture) and related laboratory procedures. The course prepares individuals for entry-level positions as phlebotomists in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and other healthcare settings. An enrollment interview and CASAS assessments are pre-requisites for acceptance to this course. Background checks and immunization records are required for optional externship. All textbooks, lab materials, tuition, study guides, official practice exams, and the national certification exam (1) fee are covered in the course cost. Students are responsible for uniforms and shoes, which should not be purchased prior to acceptance. Course has mandatory attendance requirement and requires successful completion to sit for the national certification exam. Early registration is encouraged, especially as we enter the holiday season. Information regarding tuition assistance may be available but takes a minimum of 4 business weeks for processing. Classes are Monday/Thursday 5:30pm to 8:30pm and Wednesday 4:00pm to 8:30pm. There is a nonrefundable application fee of $100.
