About this event
9 Sessions Experience Level: All Levels This drawing-based course will focus on developing students' skill in observing the human face, as well as build their knowledge of facial anatomy and techniques in portraiture. Using a variety of drawing media such as graphite, charcoal, and pastel, we will dive deeply into the subject in four units: the human skull; the face in profile; the frontal view; and the three-quarters view. Throughout the course, we will discuss what makes a portrait more than just a likeness - and how to make our portraits feel compelling. This course is open to all skill levels, but it is aimed at students who have a familiarity with basic drawing vocabulary such as value, contour, and negative space. Mastery of these concepts not necessary. For full session classes (8-10 Sessions), registration remains open until the third class meeting. Missed classes are not eligible for refunds or prorated tuition.
