5 weeks Level: all levels In this beginner-friendly intensive, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of handbuilding through functional ceramic projects using pinching, coiling, and slab-building techniques. The instructor will provide step-by-step demonstrations to help students create unique forms such as cups, bowls, vases, plates, lidded containers, and other useful objects while exploring a variety of surfaces, textures, and decorating techniques. This class is perfect for students with little to no previous ceramics experience who are interested in building one-of-a-kind functional pottery by hand. Ceramic work will be fired and ready to take home 6-8 weeks after the session ends. You will be contacted by a staff member when the work is ready for pickup For intensive session classes (4-5 weeks), registration remains open until the second class meeting.
