About this event
Learn watercolor through the techniques of master artists in this step-by-step course for beginning and intermediate painters. Students will complete six paintings while learning essential watercolor skills, including washes, wet-into-wet, dry brush, glazing, and color techniques. Each class features live demonstrations, projected instruction, and individual guidance, with most of the time devoted to hands-on painting. Inspired by artists such as Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, J.M.W. Turner, Andrew Wyeth, Emil Nolde, and James Fitzgerald, this course builds confidence, strengthens technique, and encourages students to develop their own artistic style. A suggested supply list will be emailed upon registration. To receive a supply list prior to registering, please call 941-6316. Instructor: Michael E. Vermette has been an oil painter for over 50 years. He graduated from Maine College of Art with a BFA degree in painting in 1980 and is a Maine certified K-12 art teacher with over 36 years experience. He has won numerous Best-in shows awards in Maine open juried competitions and is the recent winner of the Castine Plein Air Festival 2018.
