Algebra 1 (Teacher Kelly Mamott kjmamott@gmail.com): This is a very thorough Algebra I course. Homework is given each week and the student is expected to complete all assignments. Attending class each week, completing assignments on time, asking questions when needed are all ingredients to success. Tests will mostly be completed at home, with some short in class quizzes given as well. Tests/quizzes will count 60% of the grade and homework 40% Class size limit is 20 students. Pre Requisites: All student families must be HEAT members. Algebra 1: Students should have successfully completed Pre-Algebra or a strong math curriculum, such as Saxon 87 or Abeka “Basic Mathematics.” Student must be able to competently add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Curriculum: “ALGEBRA I: A FRESH APPROACH” by Christy Walters. (Second Edition) Copyright 2016. This book is a large text/workbook that the students will write in. Although it is tempting to have the student refrain from writing in the text so as to save it for a younger sibling, I highly encourage that they be allowed to write in the book. PLEASE be sure to order the 2016 edition. Kelly Mamott. I am a Christian, and former homeschooling mom. I graduated in 1988 from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Mathematics Education. I was certified in Florida for Mathematics Grade 6-12. I taught in a public Middle School until my first child was born in 1993. We began our homeschool journey in 2002. I have homeschooled our 4 children. During these years, I also taught several homeschool classes, including Algebra, Geometry, and Chemistry as well as variety of co-op style classes. I have privately tutored students in various high school math classes. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach high school level math courses
