About this event
Teachers: Ms. Perleberg Grades: 5-7 Description: Students will create a scale model of a city utilizing an urban planning method which focuses on walkability and sustainable living. Students may ultimately determine the features of their ten minute city but must accommodate for the basic needs and safety of citizens. Their city must offer a workspace, schooling, health and safety (such as hospital/urgent care/police station), living-space, entertainment, and active opportunities (for exercise). The city may take on many shapes, and singular buildings may take on multiple purposes. Students will be challenged to determine the needs of a society and use their math knowledge to create an accurate scale model or map.
