This instructor-led training course is designed for fire apparatus mechanics responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and supporting Cummins X12 series engines installed in emergency response vehicles. The course provides a structured review of X12 engine operation, required service procedures, diagnostic methodology, and troubleshooting resources, with an emphasis on supporting safe, reliable, and mission-critical apparatus performance.
Curriculum Focus Areas • X12 engine maintenance: Essential service procedures and maintenance practices specific to the Cummins X12 series engine. • Diagnostics and troubleshooting: Practical diagnostic techniques for identifying and resolving engine, control system, and operational concerns. • Emissions and aftertreatment systems: Review of emissions components, aftertreatment operation, and related service considerations. • Performance and reliability: Best practices for improving engine performance, increasing reliability, and supporting apparatus uptime.
Students are required to follow the CFMA Dress Code while attending this class. Steel toe safety shoes are required while on site. Safety glasses will be available upon request. NOT ALLOWED: Offensive shirts, shorts, open-toe or open-back shoes.
Training Location and Lodging: This class will be hosted at the Cummins Training Center in Bloomington, California. Students who require lodging arrangements are encouraged to select hotels in the Bloomington area to reduce travel time and minimize the impact of local traffic congestion. All classes start at 0800 each day.
