Instructor: Todd MichaelHave you ever wondered why some jewelry settings last a lifetime while others fail after only a few years? The answer isn't luck. It's understanding the relationship between the stone, the metal, the setting, and the person who will wear it. Level 3 Jewelry Setting is a comprehensive handson course designed for those who want to move beyond simply placing stones into jewelry and learn how to engineer settings that are beautiful, durable, and serviceable.
In This Course You Will Learn: • Gemstone and diamond anatomy • Metal behavior and its impact on setting design • Prong, bezel, channel, flush, and shared-prong settings • Stone protection strategies
Prerequisite: Must have completed Level 2 jewelry & metalsmithing classes and have torch soldering experience.
Level 3 Thursdays, September 10 – December 3 3:45 pm – 6:45 pm, 12 sessions No Class November 26 $418 Members, $458 Guests, $70 Materials
BBAC Metals/Jewelry Department Students
All Jewelry/Metals students pay a fee to cover most supplies, and the use of tools/studio equipment during the class periods.
Materials list of items to bring:-Please bring a small notebook and pencil to class-Wear close-toed shoes and long pants-Bring your own safety goggles, or you can share the studio goggles
