Directed Study for Portfolio Preparation: Grades 9 – 12

This course focuses on individualized instruction for building a competitive visual art portfolio for college admissions. It assists the student in creating a cohesive body of work that reflects technical skill, individual style, and readiness for post-high school art programs. Each studio exercise will concentrate on an essential drawing piece for the portfolio. Students will have the opportunity to work on independent projects more suited to specific interests and media of choice. The class will also cover how to photograph art, develop an artist statement, and understand the criteria for admissions.
A materials list will be provided on the first day of class.
