Woven Structures:Interpreting the Classics - WorkshopInstructor: Kira Keck
This workshop is a group study of woven structuresand patterns and their many possibilities. We'll talkabout how to identify the "rules" of a structure andthen twist those rules to make something all ourown. After we cover the basics of weaving, eachstudent will set up a loom with a different draft, then you’ll get to weave samples on every loom. This classic round-robin setup is an incredibleway to learn how to get the most out of each warp.Structures may include lace weaves, honeycomb, waffle weave, block double weave, corduroy, summerand winter, etc. Our emphasis is learning howto create unique weaves with traditional structuresusing experimentation and exploration. You will finish class with a portfolio of samples /small works and a collection of weaving notes,an invaluable resource for future projects!
