Fiber Art / Textiles: ShiboriAncient Japanese Dye Techniques on Natural FiberInstructor: Mindy MitchellThis textile course explores the Japanese Shiboriand other dye resist methods using syntheticdyes. Students will work with natural fibers (rayon,silk, wool) and explore a variety of resist patterns,surface design, and durable color fastness. Therewill be demonstrations and guided practice usingbasic tools: clamps, thread, needles, rubberbands, and dyes. Students will develop samplesof Shibori techniques and a final silk scarf.
