Faces are fascinating!In this drawing class, students will explore howto make them fun, funky, and even a little freaky.Using abstract approaches such as simplification,exaggeration, unconventional color choices,and distortion, participants will learn how tocreate expressive and visually engaging portraits.Through these techniques, students will putthe elements of art to work in exciting waysand develop truly unique characters.Come with an open mind and get ready to have fun.No prerequisite—students of all levels arewelcome. Multiple media will be used in this class.

Materials ListWe will review the supply list in the first class so everyone gets the correct items. Please bring paper and a pen/pencil for notes.
Remainder of the term:
- Eraser (kneaded and hard)
- Drawing board
- Clips for drawing board
- Small spray bottle
- Multimedia pad of paper medium sized, 9x12” or 11x14”
- Pastel paper- 1 large sheet 18”x 24”, 3-4 sheets 9x12”
- Chalk Pastel set
- Colored markers-non permanent- Crayola type
- Pen (ballpoint, or felt tip…. Something you like to use)
- Black permanent marker
- Blending tool (stump, cloth, tortillion)
- scissors
- glue stick
- old magazines/books/papers etc for collage
