About this event
“MEDITATION & MUSIC” A free wellness program sponsored by “To Your Health” To Your Health presents a unique and interactive health-wellness program, MEDITATION AND MUSIC, on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, at the West Parish Congregational Church, 32 Church St, Bethel, ME. This event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome. Mindfulness meditation practitioner, Will Chapman, Executive Director of the Museums of the Bethel Historical Society, will open the program. Chapman will discuss the benefits of meditation based on scientific research and share his own experience on his personal journey into meditation. He will lead the group in a short, guided practice and take questions from the audience. Chapman began meditating several years ago as a means of reducing stress, and soon became more deeply interested in Buddhist philosophy and contemplative practice. He attended three, week-long meditation retreats at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA, a leading center of insight meditation in the United States. His presentation will explore various styles of meditation, what to expect from a retreat, and how to integrate meditation into everyday life. Closing out the afternoon, OHUG (Oxford Hills Ukulele Group), the popular ukulele ensemble, will perform their favorite tunes and lead the audience in a singalong. Led by Lynette and Ray Seames, the ensemble plays classic country, popular songs from the 50s and 60s, and folk songs. While the ukulele is the main instrument, kazoos, bells and various rhythm instruments often enhance the experience. Songs for this show and singalong will include Hey Good Lookin’, You’re a Grand Old Flag, Yankee Doodle, Hound Dog, Hello, Mary Lou, God Bless America, This Land is Your Land and many more!
